We partner with schools and families to create supportive environments that:

- Recognise and celebrate each child's unique way of learning.

- Build systems that adapt to children, rather than expecting children to adapt to the system.

  • Over the years, I have learnt that separating inclusive practice from the whole-class environment, can sometimes create more of a challenge than we realise.

My philosophy on Inclusive Education is simple:
INCLUSION IS FOR EVERYONE.

Every child has different needs, strengths, challenges and ways of experiencing the world. I honestly believe that in some way, every child can benefit from environments that not only recognise differences, but also make room for them.

This post is not only about children with ADHD, nor is it about trying to find strategies to โ€œfixโ€ certain behaviours. It is to bring about awareness and to hopefully inspire us to make small changes to our various environments. ๐ŸŒˆ

  • Hi!
My name is Zena, the founder and Executive Director of Sihlume Consulting (NPC).

I resigned from my full time position as a teacher, to chase my dream and take steps towards living in Godโ€™s divine purpose for my life.

For the longest time, I could feel (without being able to fully express) the pull towards a different direction.

I finally said yes.
This is me!

  • The one rule about teaching that they do not tell you in university?

YOU NEED TO BE U-POPEYE! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽญ

Some days (if not most), your lesson plan will need to compete with wandering minds, tired little humans, and a classroom full of energy.

So... you need to improvise and become a character from The Sound of Music! ๐Ÿคฃ๐ŸŽถ

You sing.
You dance.
You make funny voices.
You act out stories.
You do whatever it takes to bring learning back into the room.

This wasnโ€™t in my lesson plan... but it was exactly what my learners needed in that moment.

Great teaching isnโ€™t about delivering the perfect lesson.
Itโ€™s about knowing when to pause, adapt, and meet children where they are.

Sometimes, learning begins the moment weโ€™re willing to look a little silly. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŒฑ
  • Scrolling through old photos, and I came across this one. It reminded me that the little girl I once was (a complete tomboy who enjoyed climbing trees, making mud pies and riding bicycles), is still shaping the educator I am today.

Learning to embrace who I am has taught me to create space for children to learn, think and express themselves in ways that honour who they areโ€”not just what the curriculum expects.

My philosophy on Inclusive Education is simple:
INCLUSION IS FOR EVERYONE.

Every child has different needs, strengths, challenges and ways of experiencing the world. I honestly believe that in some way, every child can benefit from environments that not only recognise differences, but also make room for them.

Hi!
